Cell Phone News – Google CEO flashes Nexus S, talks of NFC and Gingerbread

Today at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Google CEO Eric Schmidt showed what he called “an unannounced phone” for “an announced carrier” that appears to be what the rumor mill has labeled as the Nexus S. The phone was running on the T-Mobile network during the demonstration, and will likely be the first device to run on Android 2.3, also known as Gingerbread. Schmidt said today that Gingerbread would start shipping in a few weeks, and that it would feature support for Near Field Communications.
