Cell Phone News – Sprint Rolling Out New Voice-to-Text Feature

Starting on October 31, Sprint offered an updated version of its visual voicemail application to the EVO 4G. The new service transcribes voicemails into text form so that they may be read (rather than listened to) by customers. Sprint spokesperson Kristin Wallace said in an email to Phone Scoop, “Customers can try the feature for free for one month before subscribing. After the trial, the cost will be $1.99 per month. The service will be rolled out to all visual voicemail users in the near future.” Sprint did not indicate exactly which devices would get the updated software, nor exactly when it would be pushed out. Sprint didn’t make any formal announcement about the new feature. Instead, it was spotted by end users.
